Social Software

Social Software sind web-basierte Anwendungen, die Interaktion in Gruppen (Kollaboration, Kooperation) und zwischen Individuen, Informationsaustausch, und Kommunikation ermöglichen.

Damit umfasst Social Software die beiden etablierten Konzepte Computer Supported Collaborative Work (CSCW) und Online Communities, integriert aber auch nicht-gruppenorientierte Aspekte. Social Software hat drei grundlegende Funktionalitäten: Informations-, Identitäts- und Beziehungsmanagement.

Beispiele für Social Software sind Instant Messaging, E-Mail, SMS, Groupware, Collaborative Filtering, Social Network Sites, Wikis, Weblogs, Social Sharing-Plattformen und Social Communication.
